Anna Frost is a New Zealand trail and ultra-runner who won the Skyrunner World Series in 2010 and went on to win both the Transvulcania Ultramarathon and the Hardrock 100 twice each. Born November 1, 1981, in New Zealand, Frost came to mountain running through field hockey and triathlon, winning her first New Zealand Mountain Running Championship after her triathlon coach urged her to enter while the team was setting up race gates.
Frost turned professional in 2004 and signed with Salomon shortly after, becoming one of the early signature athletes of what would grow into a global trail running brand. She won the Skyrunner World Series in 2010 with victories that included the Table Mountain Challenge and the Three Peaks Race. Her 2012 Transvulcania win in 8:11:31 set what was then the women's race record. She won the same race again in 2014 in 8:10:41.
In 2014, Frost won the Bear 100 Mile Endurance Run on her first attempt at the distance, using the race as a Hardrock 100 qualifier. She won Hardrock 100 in 2015 (28:22:50) and again in 2016 (29:02:09), becoming a two-time champion of one of the most selective ultras in the sport. With partner Missy Gosney, she became the first woman to finish Nolan's 14 in 2015. Frost has since contributed to the trail running community as a coach and ambassador while continuing to compete selectively.
